Pregnancy
& Labor

I offer three to four prenatal visits to assess your needs and desires for birth, define and understand our expectations of one another, and provide you with useful tools for labor and birth. I can offer you assistance creating your birth plan to help you clarify your preferences for birth and explain the options that are available to you. I will offer you continuous physical, emotional, and informational support for you and your partner for the duration of labor and birth, to help you hold and move towards the vision you created for your baby's birth. After your delivery I will offer Initial breastfeeding support to help your baby latch on properly and encourage the establishment of breastfeeding. We will have one postpartum follow-up visit to celebrate the birth of your baby and answer any questions you have during the early postpartum period. Unlimited phone and email support to answer your questions and offer suggestions and support throughout pregnancy and early labor.

Breastfeeding
Counseling

During our initial meeting, I will ask for information about you and your baby's health, as well as your pregnancy and delivery. I will want to know your baby's birth weight, any changes in weight since then, and your family health history. I will assess the latch and the feed, ensuring adequate milk transfer.  I will teach parents how to ensure good milk transfer. As your  lactation counselor will perform an oral assessment on the baby for lip or tongue tie. We can work together on different feeding positions to find a successful and comfortable experience for you and baby. We can also visit for milk supply issues, pain, starting solids, weaning, and more. Breastfeeding is a beautiful and wonderful experience for you and baby, I will do my best to help you continue that journey as long as you like.

Postpartum
Support

Postpartum doulas provide families information and support on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth, infant soothing, and coping skills for new parents. They might also help with light housework, fix a meal and help incorporate an older child into this new experience. Think of me as your “extra pair of hands” during this busy and transitional time. As your postpartum doula I will allow you to rest and recover while I take care of everyday necessities like food preparation, helping with errands, and light housekeeping. As your personal “expert” they are there to answer all your questions in regard to breastfeeding, sleeping, and nutrition.
